University Lecturer in Computer Science

Your workday as a university lecturer
As a university lecturer, you will teach in all our programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. We have programs focused on IT security, web development, information systems, software development, testing, and graphic design. At the master's level, education is offered with a focus on Business Intelligence and Data Science. We also have doctoral education and research conducted in Computer Science.
You will be able to conduct research focused on Computer Science, including the development of methods and tools for decision support systems in various fields such as transportation, commerce, health, climate, etc.
Are you the person we are looking for?
According to the Higher Education Ordinance and Employment Regulations, the eligible candidate for employment as a university lecturer in non-artistic fields must have demonstrated pedagogical skills, obtained a doctoral degree, or possess equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills relevant to the subject matter of the position and the tasks included in the employment.
You should have ambitions to develop both yourself and our research and educational environment. You will work with teaching and supervision at the doctoral, master's, and bachelor's levels within one or more of the department's programs. As a university lecturer, you are expected to participate in research projects and initiate, lead, and carry out such projects. You are also expected to be able to act as a supervisor for one of our doctoral students. Administrative tasks may occur.
Furthermore, you are expected to actively participate in applications for financial research resources that benefit the department. We are looking for someone who can independently plan, implement, supervise, teach, and examine courses in Information Systems, IT Security, Software Testing, Graphic Design, Web Development, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and doctoral education.
For this position, the following is required:
- Doctoral degree in a computer science/information systems subject.
- Good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is meritorious if you:
- have supervised at all levels from bachelor's to doctoral level
- have led externally funded research projects in collaboration with industrial partners
When assessing pedagogical skills, emphasis will be placed on:
- Ability to create conditions for student learning and to generate engagement and interest in the subject
- Experience of teaching at various levels
- Experience supervising theses or dissertations
- Demonstrated pedagogical skills through varied contributions to education; such as planning, implementation (teaching and examination), and evaluation that have contributed to the development of pedagogical activities
- Higher education pedagogical training, particularly qualifying higher education pedagogical training according to SUHF's recommendations is important
- Other pedagogical merits such as pedagogical development projects, teaching material production, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the surrounding community through, for example, commissioned education or other relevant collaborations
When assessing scientific skills, particular emphasis will be placed on:
- Breadth and depth in research
- Relevance of research production in relation to the employment profile
- Independence and innovation as a researcher
- Extent of research demonstrated through nationally and/or internationally published works.
- Have been an applicant and/or co-applicant in national and/or international calls for research funding
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the surrounding community through communication of research results
For the role of university lecturer, you are required to have good collaboration skills, initiative, and a high degree of responsibility.
It is important that applicants who lack qualifying higher education pedagogical training are given the opportunity to acquire this competence as soon as possible.

The university will consider the candidate who, after a qualitative overall assessment of scientific and pedagogical skills and other qualifications relevant to the position, is deemed to have the best conditions to fulfill the tasks of the position. The Position
The position is a permanent employment, 100% workload. A probationary period may be applied. Dalarna University is an institution that operates in two locations. The placement for this position is Borlänge. If the recruitment process takes longer, a substitute may be employed during the appointment.
